Fall Foreign Film Festival: We've had a wonderful response to our Fall Foreign Film series thus far.
On Friday, Oct 12. 7:30 PM our selection will be Roman Polanski's classic Polish film "Knife in the Water". And on Friday, Oct. 25, also at 7:30 we will be presenting the 1975 Australian film "Picnic at Hanging Rock" also at 7:30.

And in November, we're looking forward to a presentation of the Jean Renoir classic "Rules of the Game." This masterpiece of French cinema will be screened on Friday, November 9 at 7:30 PM.

Eric Erickson to appear: We continue to run concert events this month and on Saturday, Oct. 20, 8:00 PM, we will be hosting regional favorite, singer-songwriter Eric Erickson in concert at the Library Annex. General admission is $10.00 with all proceeds going to the artist.

November Musical Events: The music will continue in November with two major concerts scheduled. On Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8:00 PM, Brazilian Guitarist Rick Udler returns. Those who missed this remarkable musician's appearance here last June will definitely want to check him out this time around. He is a remarkable talent.

Rick will also be conducting a workshop on the Art of Brazilian Guitar at 1:00 PM. Participants' fee for this workshop is $45.00, which includes admission for the evening concert.

Mark your calendars as well for another musical highlight, regional favorites Leslie Ritter and Scott Petito are scheduled to appear here on Saturday, November 10 at 8:00 PM. This concert is part of our well regarded Living Room Concert Series, which spotlights nationally touring artists.

Parenting A Second Time Around: For those grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives who have found themselves raising the children of close relatives, we have joined with the Co-operative Extension to present two programs. Our Tuesday evening series, Parenting a Second Time offers practical advice to all those who find themselves in this situation.

The Extension also offers a monthly morning support group for "Grandparents as Caregivers" (also not just limited to grandparents, but to any relative in a caregiver role). This month's meeting will be held on August 24 at 10:30 in the Children's Room of the Library.

Defensive Driving and Point Reduction: We will be hosting a Defensive Driving class on Saturday, October 20th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The cost of this program is $50.00. Register at www.digitaldefensivedriving.com or by calling Triangle Insurance at 452-2331.
