Just a reminder that our foreign film festival continues tomorrow at 2:30 with the Brazilian classic film: BLACK ORPHEUS (Orfeu Negro).
This haunting, lively film sets the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Euridyce in a modern Brazilian setting (at Carnival time, so it's a very appropriate choice for this coming week).
This beautiful film works beautifully on every level: as an evocation of myth, as a simple love story (timely for Valentine's Day too), and as a visual spectacle featuring wonderfully played and choreographed music and dance.
An excellent way to beat the Winter Blahs. And not a bad alternative to Superbowl Frenzy either!
Admission is Free! Refreshments on hand (small donation welcome)! Discussion will follow.

On another front, don't delay in making reservations for next week's sure-to-sell-out concert featuring legendary singer-songwriter Kate Campbell.
Kate played here a year ago, and brought down the house (the repair bills are still coming in!--just kidding, don't be alarmed, board members).
Kate is a warm, engaging performer with an easy-going manner and that undeniable Southern charm. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll fall in love with her wonderful music--and maybe with Kate herself.
For aspiring songwriters, Kate is offering an afternoon workshop ($45.00 enrollment fee, which includes admission to the evening concert).
For those interested solely in the evening concert, general admission is $10.00: $6.00 seniors). Doors open for the evening concert at 7:25, please claim reserved seats by 7:00!
