Upcoming Events At Hyde Park Free Library
 

Vito Petrocitto To Perform:

Popular regional artist Vito Petrocitto will perform at the Hyde Park Library Annex on Saturday, March 8 at 8:00. id Roth. General admission is $10.00, $6.00 seniors. Call 229-7791 for more information.

Humor Writing Workshop:

The Hyde Park Library will hold a workshop on humor writing featuring humor columnist and songwriter Mark Sherman (author of the book "Real Men Don't Write Columns") on Sunday, March 9 from 11:00 am to 3:00 PM. Focus will be on the basic principles of humor writing, learning how some of the masters of the form do it, and how to turn your funny bits into witty essays, dialogue, satire, song parody, even material for stand-up. There is no charge for this workshop, but space is limited. Call the library to reserve a spot. Call 229-7791 for more information.

Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher:

On March 29th at 8:00 PM, classical guitarist Peter Fletcher returns to the Hyde Park Library Annex, Peter's program will feature works by Bach, Handel, Weiss, Reusner, Koshkin, Mompou, Lauro, and Albeniz . Admission is a suggested donation of $10.00 with all proceeds going to the artist. Call 229-7791 for more information.

Writer Group Meetings:

Writers in all genres are invited to attend the Hyde Park Library's bi-monthly Writers' Group meetings. This month's sessions will be on March 10 and March 24 at 6:30 PM in the Annex. Call 229-7791 for more information.

Social Issues Film Series:

On March 11 and March 13, the Hyde Park Library will be showing two documentary films which address issues of concern for the entire community. On Tuesday, March 11 at 6:45, we will be screening the film "The End of Suburbia," and on Thursday, March 13, also at 6:45, we will show "The Power of Community." Both films are free and open to the public. Call 229-7791 for more information.

Book-To-Film Series:

The Hyde Park Library will begin a new film series in March showcasing films adapted from literature. Their first selection will be "The Hours" the celebrated 2003 film based on Michael Cunningham's novel of the same name. That film will have two showings, Friday, March 14 at 7:30 and Sunday, March 16 at 2:00 PM. Later in the month, the library will show Nicolas Roeg's eerie 1974 classic "Don't Look Now." Showings for this entry in the series will be on Friday, March 28 at 7:30 and Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 PM. All films are free and open to the public. For more information, call 229-7791.

Art Exhibit:

On display in the month of March at the Hyde Park Library Annex are abstract works by local artist William Joel. The exhibit runs through March 31. Call 229-7791 for more information.
