Upcoming Events At Hyde Park Free Library

October has arrived.

The frost is on the pumpkin, and a new season of events has begun at the library. Last weekend, we were fortunate enough to kick off the official fall season with regional favorites Kevin and Carol Becker--who will also be doing a special Halloween family concert on Thursday, Oct.30.

This Saturday, Alan Ross Haynes will be here along with special guest Melissa Holland. We've been looking forward to having Alan and Melissa back in the library annex and are honored to serve as the site for their CD release celebration concert.

Alan has posted the following info on his website, http://alanrosshaynes.com/calendar.html, which I'm sure you'll find useful.

Please make special note that the workshop on getting Internet and broadcast airplay will be held at 3:00 PM and that the concert will take place at 7:00. (A slight departure from our usual schedule, but one that I hope will help accommodate the needs of workshop participants as well as concert goers).

As I said, we have been looking forward to having Alan perform here for quite awhile. He graced our stage here a few years back, along with Melissa and John and Luanne Martucci. That was such a memorable concert for me, and I'm very excited to have him and Melissa back here in our concert space. Should be a great time.

October will be a busy music month here at the library. The "Living Room Concert Series" offering on October 25th will be Scott Ainslie, making his debut appearance here at 8:00 PM. Scott will be offering a workshop that day at 1:00 PM on "blues and slide guitar" techniques. For more on the events of that day, please see Scott's webpage: http://gigcal.com/cattail_calendar.cfm.

Lots more going on in the library this month as well, including a new film series: Friendship on Film, an exploration of how friendship has been represented in the cinema in recent decades. Our kick off film will be John Sayles' Passion Fish on Oct. 24th at 7:15 pm.
