Upcoming Events At Hyde Park Free Library
 

Folksinger Kathy Hussey To Appear: The Hyde Park Library is delighted to welcome acclaimed singer songwriter Kathy Hussey here for an afternoon songwriting workshop and evening concert on February 21. Kathy has released 3 critically acclaimed CDs that feature her pop-tinged-alterna-folk-bluegrassy-hip-hop sound, and she has been a finalist or a winner in many major songwriting competitions: Kerrville New Folk, Telluride Troubadour, Mountain Stage, Suwannee Springfest and others.

Film Series: Our series "Auteurs du Cinema" continues in February with several Friday evening and Sunday showings of films by the Coen Brothers. On February 13th at 7:15, we will be screening "Intolerable Cruelty" featuring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And on the following Sunday afternoon (Feb. 15) , we will be running the comedy "Hudsucker Proxy" with Tim Robbins, Paul Newman and Jennifer Jason Leigh at 2:15 PM. The following Friday's selection will be the Tom Hanks vehicle "The Ladykillers." And there will be a special Sunday evening screening of the little seen "The Man Who Wasn't There" at 7:15.

The Coen Brothers' series will wrap up with the classic "O Brother Where Art Thou" on Friday, February 27 at 7:15 and the recent hit "Burn Before Reading" on Friday, March 6, also at 7:15. A brief discussion follows all films and refreshments will be served. Admission is free and open to the general public.

Writers' Group: New members are welcome to participate in our bi-monthly writers' group sessions. We meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:30 PM.

News From the Children's Room: We'll be running our annual "Make and Take Valentine's Program" on Thursday, Februay 12. Children in grades 2 and up are invited to come to this open-ended craft session (from 4:00 to 8:00 PM) and create their own special Valentine's Day craft.
