The purpose of the organization is to preserve and display artifacts relating to Hyde Park's heritage. While the splendor of the gilded age is well represented by the homes of the wealthy river families, we strike a historical balance to show how the townspeople lived.

The Little Red Schoolhouse

The Little Red Schoolhouse was built in 1845 and was located at Crum Elbow Road and Cardinal Road in East Park.

The Town of Hyde Park Historical Society rescued this one-room school house from demolition in 1972 and moved it to the grounds of the North Park Elementary School, Route 9G, Hyde Park, NY.

Tours of this school house are available by calling Carl Grieco at (845) 229-9029.

Come to see how the children of years ago spent their days in school!
